The Jumpboost Racing League kicked off their second race of the Round of 10 for the Playoffs at Bristol Motor Speedway. The race itself started off with a penalty handed out by the race control to the number 38 of Justin Potts. Potts has found himself the cause of on track incidents throughout the season and as the incidents have become more frequent heading into the playoffs, race control has deemed that a EOL penalty to start the race was needed to enforce the rule on over aggressive driving in attempt to curb the behavior with the remaining playoff races ahead of us.
There was not much to report of this race as Harley Barletta went on an absolute tear from qualifying on the pole to leading 98 of 100 laps and even putting down the fastest lap.
The finish saw the top four drivers flying through turns three and four in a battle for the win. Barletta found himself on the high line, Potts sent it through the middle and Hummel locked himself to the bottom line. Exiting the corner Potts washed up into Barletta hooking him towards the inside wall. This gave Hummel the ability to take the lead and lead the only lap he did of the race to take the win.
As the leaders slid past the finish line and came to a stop, Barletta could be heard on the radio saying “I’m not gonna lie.. I’m tired of getting screwed out of stuff..” The frustrations are growing with the heavy short track back half of the schedule.
Garrett Hummel has officially locked himself into the Round of 8 with this win.
