The Jumpboost Racing League Truck Series Season is over and it ended in a wild and crazy fashion.
Starting off at the Round of 8 Race in Talladega, Domenic Previte pulled off his second win of the season locking himself into the Championship 4 after he was turned up into the outside wall by Garrett Hummel. After the race was over, there was a buzz over the finish on whether or not Hummel had crossed the yellow line to make his attempt to pass before making contact with the leader. After a 20 minute review, it was ruled that Hummel was indeed under the yellow line and made an unsafe re-entry onto the track which placed him at the end of the lead lap cars and gave Domenic Previte a painful win into the Championship 4.
Hummel although understanding was determined to get to the Championship 4 as well. He proved this by showing up to Homestead Miami Speedway and pushing his way to the front. Hummel was able to lock in his spot in the Championship 4 after leading 18 laps in the 67 lap race.
The final race leading into the Championship 4 was one of the ages as Harley Barletta, Josh Previte, Eric Wolfe and Paul Junior were racing for a win to lock themselves in. Josh Previte and Harley Barletta were neck and neck going into Martinsville with Eric Wolfe nipping at their heels. Wolfe would go on to have a great race and a second place finish but the part-time driver Jeffrey Goodpaster would pull the upset of the season with a win at Martinsville locking both Josh Previte and Harley Barletta into the Championship 4.
Eric Wolfe would go on to say after the race that he was beyond disappointed that he couldn’t lock himself into the Championship 4 and missing out by just three points was an absolute gut punch. Wolfe also stated, “I know where we messed up.. A lot of errors between the steering wheel and the driver.. I know the moments we missed our shot at and hoped when they happened it wouldn’t be what cost us.. Turns out it would be the reason we didn’t make it.”
The championship race at Phoenix was one of domination.
Garrett Hummel would edge out Domenic Previte in qualifying by just 0.067 seconds for the pole. The Championship 4 drivers would find themselves in the top 5 all night long but Hummel would prove to be just too fast to catch as he lead 69 of the 78 total laps of the race.
Hummel would go on to beat Eric Wolfe and Josh Previte by under 0.700 seconds.
