This week we head just south of the Village of Watkins Glen, NY to the heart of the Finger Lakes for the 11 turn road course of Watkins Glen International.

The course, originally opened in 1956 to host auto races that were previously held on public roads in and around the village has not changed much since 1971. Only slight changes have been made with driver safety in mind.

The current track configuration is 2.450 miles boasting elevation changes and high speed technical turns. This track is most notably known for its down hill turn 1 that transitions into a high speed uphill turns 2, 3 and 4 known as the “Esses”. This takes us up hill to a high speed back straight into turns 5, 6, 7 and 8 known as “the bus-stop” into the down hill carousel of turn 9. This takes us to turns 10 and 11 known as the penultimate and final corners of Watkins Glen. These two corners have lead to amazing last lap battles and passes to victory.

This track will challenge the drivers patience, braking abilities and consistency through all 11 turns each lap. Tires, pit strategy and the battle of stage points versus putting yourself in a position to win the race.
