The many turns of Watkins Glen International proved to be quite the test for our drivers this week. Josh Previte lead the field to the start with eventual race winner Justin Potts on the outside row.

These leaders were tested right from the beginning by the #2 of Eric Wolfe who was showing he wanted to put the pressure on them from the beginning. He found himself in the right place to do that behind Josh Previte. These two drivers have found themselves battling for the lead quite often so far this year.

On Lap 3, Josh Previte locked up his brakes causing his #88 irby Chevy Silverado to slide through the entrance of the inner loop. This rare driving error by Previte cost him only three spots as he quickly gathered control of his truck but opened the door for Eric Wolfe to take the lead and go on to win both Stage 1 and Stage 2.

The lead of Wolfe would only be lost due to a pit road mishap on Lap 22 where he stopped just short of his box it looks in effort to get a better exit off of pit lane. This would in turn cost him 5 positions.

Wolfe would quickly battle back past his teammate of Domenic Previte through the Esses with Josh Previte right behind him. This push for the lead was ended shortly after on lap 28 from contact with the points leader Harley Barletta.

The contact with Barletta would end Wolfe’s day leaving him with his first DNF of the year. Barletta would go on to speak about the contact after the race saying, “…I have no intentions of going outside the rumble strips on road courses unless it’s turn one lap one or I miss the corner.. I hate that happened last night but I like to keep it on the racing surface.”

This contact between second and third place led to the leader Justin Potts to go on and lead the final 14 laps of the race to victory without any challenge from the field.
