The paper clip half mile of Martinsville was an eventful race full of the Jumpboost Racing League. The drivers saw 12 cautions total with a majority of them coming in the final stage of the race.

Josh Previte was the star of qualifying locking down a speedy lap of 0:19.315. This was enough to lock him in the pole position for the start of this day to night race.

Stage one was a battle between two familiar faces of Harley Barletta and Josh Previte. Barletta took the stage win and led a total of 15 of the 25 laps in the first stage.

Stage two was another battle of the same, Barletta led 14 laps but Previte and the #88 Chevy were able to take back the lead and lead 11 laps to snag a stage victory from the points leader.

Stage three was full of aggression, beating and banging all over the half mile leaving no one driver safe. Eric Wolfe and the #2 Toyota were able to use pit strategy to their advantage starting the stage in the lead on the restart. Wolfe went on to lead the race high of 37 total laps before being spun on lap 89 by the #38 of Justin Potts.

Potts was quoted after the race saying “I was going into the corner and my wheel jerked from me and I was trying to save it.. When I did I was right on the bumper. That’s my bad.”

Although the spin took Wolfe out of the lead, it did not take him out of the race. i90 Racing Driver Domenic Previte and the #15 Powerstop Toyota took the lead.

Domenic had been battling from the back of the pack all day with some early on damage and loss of his passenger side fender. Previte went on to say after the race “..I think the fender being gone helped keep the right front cooler.. It definitely didn’t hurt the car at all.”

The race came down to a green/white/checkered finish where both Domenic and Josh Previte lined up next to each other on the front row. Domenic was able to get a good jump on the restart but Josh was able to drive the car in deeper into turns 3 and 4 coming to the white flag. Wolfe, in third place, was also pushing to keep close to the leaders. Into the final turn, Domenic slid up in turn 3 giving Wolfe a run to his rear bumper and Josh a straight line off the corner. When Domenic got on the gas, the car lost grip and turned inwards in front of his team mate right behind him. Wolfe, already in the gas on exit assisted the #15 car in his spin unintentionally.

After the race, Wolfe spoke with Domenic Previte and is quoted as saying ” he (Wolfe) feels bad for the spin..” and that he “feels like he (Wolfe) cost him (D. Previte) a victory..” The team mates discussed the situation and it doesn’t seem like there is love lost between the drivers as it was a racing incident that is “just one of those things.”

Josh Previte went on to win his third race of the season with 23 total laps led.
