This week the Jumpboost Racing League headed to the tricky triangle in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. This 2.5 mile tri-oval boasts the longest straightaway on any North American Speedway at 3,740 feet from the exit of Turn 3 to the entrance of Turn 1.

This race proved to be one of speed, patience and finding the small windows of opportunity to pass the driver in front of you.

Stage one kicked off with Paul Junior leading the field to the start after an absolute blistering qualifying lap of 54.213. He would go on to have the fastest lap of the race on just Lap 2 of the 36 Lap event with a time of 53.989.

Josh Previte in the #88 Chips Ahoy Chevrolet would prove to be the quick charger of the race, overtaking the pole sitter Paul Junior on exit of turn one and went on to lead the entire 10 Lap stage taking home a bonus playoff point.

Paul Junior would find himself in trouble on pit lane during the Stage One caution as he locked up his rear tires on entry and spun into his pit box. He was able to recover but exited the pits in P11.

The race off pitlane proved to be an interesting one as Eric Wolfe and Domenic Previte both went on a different strategy than the rest of the field only taking right side tires and fuel. This would prove to be beneficial as Wolfe would gain 5 positing and Previte would go on to take the field to the green flag to start Stage Two after finishing Stage One in ninth place.

Previte would go on to lead until the exit of turn 3 on Lap 15 where he got loose and ended up getting turned down pit lane by Garrett Hummel. This would bring out our first caution of the day. Previte was able to fire the car back up after contact with the barrels leading down pit lane and get back on track with only slight rear end aero damage.

After the field returned to green, it was a quick two lap sprint to end Stage Two which would be a stage victory for Eric Wolfe. Unfortunately this is where Wolfe’s luck would end as he slid through his pit box on entry and ended up losing the lead and falling back to fifth place on exit.

Paul Junior would lead the field to the start of Stage Three after just taking fuel only on the Stage Two break. On Lap 25, a caution would come out after contact between Eric Wolfe and Justin Potts occurred on the exit of turn three. Much like the contract earlier in the race with Previte and Hummel, Potts found himself spinning towards the pit lane barrels. Unfortunately this damage would be enough to end Potts day and leave him finishing the race eleven laps down after finishing both Stage One and Two in second place.

Garrett Hummel would get the lead here and hold onto it for the next eleven laps of the race.

On Lap 31, Domenic Previte would find himself spinning again in turn three off the nose of the #29 Chevrolet Silverado of Joshua Thornton. Thornton who was in fourth at the time of the incident would send it hard into turn three seeing that Previte had lost second place to Mychael Miller on entry and tried to jump into a space that wasn’t quite there. The contact caused Previte to spin and make contact with the outside wall.

The race would resume on another two lap sprint to the finish with Hummel choosing the outside line to start. This would prove to be the choice as he and Barletta were able to step out in front of the inside line of Mychael Miller and Paul Junior and take both first and second place respectively. This would go on to be Hummel’s second win of the season and would make him our fourth different driver this season to win back-to-back races.
